4 Best Essential Oils You Have Probably Never Heard Of

Essential oils offer powerful beauty and health care benefits. We often hear of the common aromas, but other oils are rarely heard of. Here are four of the best essential oils that you may not have heard of before.

Vetiver Essential Oil

The botanical name for vetiver is Vetiveria zizanioides or Andropogon muricatus. It is commonly known as Khus-Khus in the Indian region where it is found. This grass is widely used in tropical areas. This oil offers a calming, grounding effect and can be soothing as well. Besides these uses of vetiver, it is also used in cosmetics, room fresheners and as a flavoring agent.

Spikenard Essential Oil

Spikenard oil is derived from Nardostachys jatamansi, a flowering plant of the Valerian family. Also called nard, nardin, and muskroot, it is considered a very precious oil in perfumes. Spikenard oil grows wild in the Himalayas at altitudes above 10,000 feet. It is used for relaxing the mind, and offers purifying benefits to skin.

Galbanum Essential Oil

Galbanum comes from the plant Ferula galbaniflua, a perennial. It grows on the slopes of the mountain ranges of northern Iran. The gum residue of Galbanum is collected and used to create perfume and essential oil. It is used by some for the for relieving the air passages. It is also used by some for skin issues.

Baobab oil, or Adansonia digitata, is produced from the Baobab tree found in tropical African countries, hailed as The Tree of Life. The fruit seeds provide excellent softening skincare properties.
